The Classic Center is deeply rooted in hospitality and acts as a learning lab for our community.

Fostering relationships with local education systems has resulted in pathways for all individuals despite education or training level. The Bread for Life program, Hospitality Careers Academy, Athens Technical College, and the Athens Community Career Academy programs allow us to meet individuals where they are and give them the skills and training to grow and prosper within the hospitality industry.

Bread for Life Career Connect

Bread for Life

Bread for Life's Career Connect is a non-profit organization that offers hands-on training, professional instruction, and community support to individuals who desire to improve their lives through the development of transferable skills leading to successful careers. Bread for Life’s Career Connect is a 5-week program open to individuals ages 16 to 21 from the Athens area interested in getting paid to work and develop new skills while learning about career paths in the hospitality, marketing, event planning, sales, culinary, and the tourism industries.

The Classic Center facility will be used as a learning lab for students taking courses to understand how the industry started, how trends can become new standards, and how customer service ultimately affects profitability.

Hospitality Careers Academy

Hospitality Careers Academy

The Hospitality Careers Academy is a terrific summer opportunity for students who are interested in a career in the hospitality and tourism industry.  During this week-long academy, students will:

  • Listen and interact with guest speakers in the industry
  • Participate in job shadowing and industry tour
  • Take part in team-building and leadership activities

All of this will assist students with the capstone project that integrates skills and information gained throughout the week by executing an event for 200+ attendees.

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships

The Classic Center and The Classic Center Cultural Foundation work together to award over $60,000 in scholarships annually.  Scholarship categories include performing arts, visual arts, hospitality, and workforce development.  These scholarships provide opportunities for employees of The Classic Center, area high school students, and individuals enrolled in hospitality programs at  Athens Technical College, The University of Georgia, and Athens Community Career Academy.
