Two Classic Center Employees Named to IAVM’s 30 Under 30 Class of 2020
IAVM, or the International Association of Venue Managers, represents public assembly venues from across the world, including everything from convention centers to stadiums to auditoriums. Each year, IAVM selects a class of 30 venue professionals who are under 30 years of age to be recognized. The competitive selection process chooses 30 of the brightest and most talented individuals in the industry and rewards them with increased access and networking as well as year-round continued education. This year The Classic Center is honored to have not one, but two, of its own employees be among the winners: Tim DeMott and Haley Fort.
Tim is the General Manager of the Convention Center. He began as an Event Planner, and quickly worked his way up to becoming Director of Operations. Due to his organization and diligence, events hosting thousands of people ran smoothly, and he was promoted a second time to his current position. Tim says, “I’m honored to be selected and could not have gotten to where I am without the mentors I’ve had the privilege of working with at The Classic Center.”
Haley began as the Operations Coordinator before moving specifically to the Theatre as the Entertainment Manager. Not only does she ensure shows and performances are the best they can be, she has been instrumental in initiatives like Band Together, the virtual concert series put on by The Classic Center and Terrapin Beer Co., along with partners the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, MMT, and Six String Southern Productions. Haley’s creativity has set her apart, and she says she feels “honored to be selected. I’m looking forward to working alongside like-minded young professionals and growing within the industry. It’s humbling and exciting to be recognized for doing something you love!”
Tim and Haley have joined the ranks of several other Classic Center 30 under 30 graduates. Danny Bryant, the Arena General Manager, was a member of IAVM’s inaugural class of 2015, and Beth Bryant, Development Manager of The Classic Center Cultural Foundation, was a member of the class of 2017.
Paul Cramer, President/CEO of The Classic Center, says, “I am so proud to have so many leaders within our company. Our staff is what makes The Classic Center special, and Tim and Haley perfectly exemplify our core values of hospitality, teamwork, and servant-style leadership.”
We are so proud of these employees, their hard work, and their dedication.
