The Classic Center and Akins Ford Arena offer two unique volunteer pathways for individuals and organizations to support their community and serve with a purpose.

Whether you are looking to volunteer individually through the STARS Program or bring your non-profit group together through the Community Spotlight Partnership, there are meaningful ways to make a difference while being a part of the event experience.

STARS Volunteer Program

The STARS Volunteer Program lets you support your community while being part of unforgettable events at
The Classic Center and Akins Ford Arena. As a STARS volunteer, you'll make new connections, create lasting memories, and serve with purpose. 

As a STARS volunteer, you'll play a key role in events at The Classic Center and Akins Ford Arena, including concerts, theatre performances, conferences, and special events. Volunteers work alongside staff members to greet patrons, scan mobile tickets, and assist guests.

How to Join STARS

After completing the online application form, your account is subject to review. Once approved, you will be contacted by a team member, who will provide you with a background check authorization form and a liability waiver. Applicants are required to complete all of the following items to become active in the program:

• Waiver of Liability - The document outlines the nature of voluntary engagement with The Classic Center. In summary, it acknowledges your responsibility for behavior and general risks while volunteering at The Classic Center.
• Background Check - background checks and personal information shared with the program in any way will be kept strictly confidential. Background check paperwork will be processed by The Classic Center’s Human Resources Department. Any concerns about the process or results should be directed to the Theatre Manager, who will confidentially work with Human Resources to determine appropriate advisement. Please note that not all incidents on background reports are grounds for dismissal from the program.
• Training - Upon completing the previous items, STARS must attend one of several training sessions. This training will further define safety measures, company culture, expectations, and personal conduct. All volunteers will sign a Policy Acknowledgment Form to confirm that they understand our policies and agree to abide by them. You will be notified of future training session dates.

Community Spotlight Program

Connecting Our Community Through Service

The Community Spotlight Program connects local organizations with Akins Ford Arena through volunteer service and community engagement.

Partner organizations provide a team of volunteers who work alongside Arena staff in guest-focused and operational roles such as greeting guests, providing directions, supporting entry, assisting with elevators and guest services, and helping with light post-event cleanup.

The partnership goes beyond volunteer service. Community Spotlight Partners have the opportunity to share their organization with Arena guests through event recognition, social media features, and other promotional efforts.
