A Blossoming Triumph: Steven Teller Honored at the 4th Annual National Mural Awards
Award-winning artist Steven Teller has earned the Region Three Bronze Award at the 4th Annual National Mural Awards for his mural, “A Blossoming Ode to Georgia’s Musical History,” featured inside Akins Ford Arena.
The mural celebrates Georgia’s rich music history by honoring some of the state’s most influential artists across multiple genres and generations. Featured artists include Duane Allman, Ray Charles, James Brown, Cindy Wilson, the OutKast duo, and Gladys Knight.
Using spray paint and a bold palette of red, orange, yellow, and fuchsia, Steven Teller infused the mural with the energetic spirit and psychedelic hues of the 1960s rock era. Greeting guests as they enter Akins Ford Arena, the mural serves as a standout centerpiece, creating an unforgettable first impression. Located along the arena concourse beside the Georgia Music Collections from the University of Georgia Libraries, the piece further connects visitors to the state’s rich music history. “A Blossoming Ode to Georgia’s Musical History” offers a visual tribute that connects generations of music lovers while celebrating Georgia’s enduring impact on American music.
